Watford Hill Primary School is located in the parish of Hanover in the rural community of Woodlands. It is a small school with 76 students, 3 highly qualified teachers and a principal. The student teacher ratio is 25:1. Most of the students are from the community with a few from other neighbouring communities. The school has an active PTA body, who conduct regular meetings to discuss matters concerning the children. There is also an active Past Student Association the meets consistently and discuss the development of the school. The school participates in extra curricula activities such as Inter School Christian Fellowship (ISCF), Environmental Clubs, a Spanish Club, Cub Scouts, Home & Garden Club and 4-H Club. The school is also very active in JCDC Speech and Dance Festivals.
Watford Hill Primary is blessed to have partnered with several stakeholders over the years. Unconditional Love for children, Hanover Charities, Links International, Jamaica Public Service Company (JPSco.), One Love Learning Foundation and the Ministry of Education all play an integral part in the development of the school. It is with organizations as these that at Watford Hill Primary School we continue to ‘Strive for Excellence’.Watford Hill Primary school was established in 1896. The land was donated to the Ministry of Education Youth & Information by the Baptist Church. Much of the history of the school is currently unknown to its current leaders but work is being done to change this.
